NBS

Features

What the system does right now.

Shipped and in use — not a roadmap.

  • Multi-currency operationsKeyPick any available currency when creating an operation — the system converts and shows financial values automatically.
  • Smart quittanceKeyPayments are distributed against specific invoices, so receivables and payables stay exact in real time.
  • Hierarchical unitsNested accounting centers that map where transactions actually occur — a warehouse, a shop, a department.
  • Inventory & assetsRich item descriptions, custom property templates, and images for goods, components and intangible assets.
  • Batch or serial trackingAccount for batches or individual units. Batches can additionally carry exact serial numbers.
  • Warehouse operationsReceipts, expenses, and internal stock transformations logged as plain movements between centers.
  • Multilingual interfaceEnglish, German, and Spanish out of the box.
  • Embedded AI engineNewThe whole back end is exposed to the AI as executable tools. Write custom dynamic instructions to automate work.

Heads up

Project is in active development

Production-bound, not yet production-hardened.

There are undiscovered bugs, unpolished edge cases, and incomplete UI modules. Development prioritizes the stability of the database layer and the correctness of the accounting math over visual perfection.

NBS is designed, written, and maintained by one developer — a single pair of hands behind every line, which is exactly why the roadmap is narrow and the foundations come first. That also sets the pace honestly: features land one at a time, and the review queue moves at human speed. The invitation to make it more than a one-person effort stands open.

The code is fully transparent under the Apache 2.0 License — fork it, modify it, host it internally, and use it commercially, for free. Bug reports, realistic feature requests, and pull requests are welcome on GitHub.

This is a non-commercial project. Nothing is sold — no licenses, no support contracts, no paid services or features. Help is voluntary and comes through GitHub.

Accounting on the Operation

The new AC tab shows the postings an operation generates, with their analytics, next to those of the operations linked to it.

Get started

Self-hosted, so the data never leaves.

Your server, your database, your rules — no SaaS tenant and no vendor lock-in. Run every tier on one machine in the office, map them onto cloud services, or mix the two. Start on a single host; the architecture does not change when you outgrow it.

$ git clone <repository-url>/nbs5-install.git
$ git clone <repository-url>/nbs5-core.git
$ git clone <repository-url>/nbs5-ui.git
$ cd nbs5-install/docker && cp .env.example .env
# edit the config params in .env
$ docker compose up -d

Quick Start

What NBS5 is, who it is for, and how it runs — on-premise, in the cloud, or hybrid, and how each tier scales on its own.
